Animals do weird and crazy stuff

Take a good look, kids. You might not see another one again soon

It’s no secret that as far as behaviors go, there are some things animals do that just leave us scratching our noggins. Dogs enjoy sniffing their butts and chasing their tails for hours, squids squirt ink, whales sing, and I could swear my cat actually has a thing for running into walls and furniture. (Crazy kitty.) Usually, these quirks can be explained through science and studying animal behaviors, but there are some things animals do (or seem to do) that leaves even the most brilliant experts staring dumbfounded, at a total loss for an answer. (Not that they don’t try, of course.)

For example, you may have heard about the mysterious (and decidedly foreboding) mass honeybee disappearance across the world, but did you know that some animals go on apparent suicide sprees for no clear reason? Or that all cows across the globe always face north (or south) when eating? Whales may sing, but did you know that all Blue whales across the world are constantly vocalizing in lower and lower pitches each year? Or that ants, whilst absolute morons on their own, suddenly become hyper-intelligent (well, comparatively …) and collectively aware when bunched together? And, most of all, did you know that many, if not most, animals on the planet seem to be so finely in-tune with Mother Nature, that they can sense in advance – and react accordingly – when an earthquake is about to strike, hours and even days before it does, even when our latest & best scientific equipment is unable to detect any disturbances in the Force in the Earth until it’s nearly too late?

Freaky shit. And, as you would expect, you can find the whole list – and pleasantly in-depth details – over at Cracked. That site is to me what meth-addicted male prostitutes are to Kent Ham (minus the denial, the repression, the shame and the angst).
