T.Estes of HardTruth, one of the Enlightened Ones, comments on the new Mr. Deity video with PZ as the “Science Advisor”, and lets rip yet another delusional torrent of silliness.
First, the ol’ argument from incomprehension:
Isn't it amazing to you all that atheists actually believe they could design a human body better than the one we've got? We have a body that automatically attacks disease. We have a body that feels pain in order to protect us from damaging ourselves without our knowledge. We have minds that are able to coordinate the use of all our muscles at the same time in order to make us walk, or even run. Yet, atheists believe they could do it better. Is it really possible to be more arrogant than that?
Uh – the fact that biologists and scientists, who have an intricate knowledge of how the body works, hypothesize about a better structured and laid-out physical template for the human body, one more adapted and appropriate for our modern lives, is not a product of arrogance, but one of creativity, imagination and a strive for practicality. Actually, it’s probably just arrogant to claim that they are, themselves, arrogant, when such is not the case, thus turning your claim into a false accusation. Those aren’t nice, you know.
But then, watch how he really goes off the deep end:
When I use my computer there are processes that I wish worked better. I wish it was faster, simpler, and smaller. But how stupid would I sound if I criticized the designer of my computer because I felt it lacked the areas that I mentioned when I don't have the capability to build one myself?
What the …? This makes absolutely no sense at all. First, T.Estes was talking about how biologists (which, of course, he universally labels as “atheists”) are supposedly “arrogant” for daring to think up ways in which our body, the product of a highly wasteful and inefficient natural process (evolution/natural selection), could be better constructed and designed (*GASP* OMG! I said “DESIGNED”! That means I believe in a DESIGNER! *SHOCK*). Now, he claims that atheists are … blaming God for not making the human body more better and more efficient? Jeez, talk about jumping from A to B like a monkey through tree-branches. Try to stay on-topic, Tom.
Think about this, not only do atheists believe they know more about science than Christians, they believe they know more about the Bible, politics, logic, you name the subject, and atheists will claim to be the authority on it.
Actually, being generally better informed on such topics than most is a product of curiosity and a passion for learning how the world works, rather than arrogance of desiring to be hailed as an authority. Just a guess.
Finally, we reach the end:
Atheists are just wrong, no further explanation required, and that's the HardTruth.
Of course, no further explanation is required. T.Estes doesn’t have one.
