It never ceases to amuse me how the talking heads on Fox News apparently think they can get away with any feeble-minded attempts at whitewashing their channel’s shtick of transparently partisan Obama-bashing. Just now, we have recurring contributor Ann Coulter claiming that “no-one on Fox ever mentioned” Birtherism (when all those icky liberal outlets were running with it 24/7, of course):
My transcript:
COULTER: I’m always suspicious when a story is covered – heavily – on one of the liberal stations, and not being talked about on Fox. For example, the Birther story – all over MSNBC; no-one on Fox ever mentioned it.
O rly? I have here a neat little report from Media Matters that just begs to differ. And that just covers a two-month span between March and April of 2011.
Of course, the majority of those who watch Fox News probably aren’t the type to go out and fact-check any of the bullshit they’re fed. Nonetheless, it becomes harder to tell whether those Fox actually know there’s no dearth in groups who will examine their panoply of crap – or, rather, if they care at all. And the informed consensus is quickly leaning towards the idea that they clearly don’t.
“News” channel, indeed.
