Is there ever any good news to report …?

• Glenn Greenwald on Pfc. Bradley Manning now being forced to strip naked every night for the indefinite future – “as a ‘precautionary measure’ to prevent him from injuring himself”. Because nothing is more dangerous to a detainee than brig clothes. [pictured]

• Sad but predictable: US Military betrays its promise to fund secular concert Rock Beyond Belief, forcing its cancellation. Jen has a good brief of the timeline of events. Good to know we can’t still can’t rely on the backstabbing, sectarian US Military to do the right thing.

• Corpus Christi, Texas school reacts to a student attempting to create a Gay-Straight Alliance club by shutting down all extracurricular clubs.

• 7^th Circuit Court of Appeals rightfully upholds students’ right to be bigoted little assholes. Again: Free speech for all really means for all.

• I understand the importance of letting strangers into schools. But suspending a student for opening a door for a woman whose hands were full is just a tad bit ridiculous.
