An insight into the emotional memory of our simian friends

| »

I’ve already made a couple of posts on the subject of animal psychology in chimpanzees, both instances concerning how they, our closest relatives, deal with death and the mourning of loved ones. Now, here’s the story of animal conservationist Damian Aspinall and his attempt to reunite with a Kwibi, a gorilla he raised and loved, five years after releasing his friend into the wild. It’s yet another amazing, touching and thought-provoking insight into the emotional minds of our big hairy cousins. (No, not your hillbilly relatives. Silly you.)

You don’t have to be an animal-lover (though that’s always a bonus!) to appreciate just how incredible these insights into the minds of our non-human cohabitants are.
