Surprise, Stupak is wrong (or lying)

In what I’m certain will be a great blow to anyone following the abortion rights healthcare reform debate, it turns out that Bart Stupak (D-MI), the senator who (along with Sen. Joseph Pitts (R-PA)) managed to single-handedly fuck up the passage of the healthcare reform bill by insisting it be dragged into the pits of the abortion debate, is plainly wrong when he claims that provisions in the existing bill would allow for government funding of abortion coverage. (Either that, or he’s just plain lying about it. Of course, both are equally likely.)

So, this entire abortion-in-healthcare-reform nonsense could’ve been avoided if only people (such as the senators) actually read the bloody thing and saw, quite clearly, that Stupak was spewing bullshit?
