Atheist billboards going up in Sacramento with message: “Are you good without God? Millions are.” |
Quick note: as I just announced via Twitter (you listening?), I’m now changing my “Stupid Quote of the Day” feature into “FAIL Quote of the Day”, mostly for the heck of it. (Well, okay: entirely for the heck of it.) And, what a better way to start than with this silly nonsense in response to the new atheist billboards (pictured) going up around Sacramento, CA in February:
Rabbi Mendy Cohen of Chabad of Sacramento has not seen the billboards but said they "sound like a bunch of rubbish."
"How could you be an atheist in this world? How can you survive emotionally being an atheist – you could lose your job, your house – you could die from anxiety."
So, her argument is that not believing in God (or gods) leads atheists do develop untold amounts of stress and negative emotions? Well, at least it’s good of her to admit that a belief in God (or gods) serves as a tonic for the nerves – which, of course, is one of the reasons most drawn upon by theists to rationalize their faith in an invisible and uncaring deity.
Nonetheless, Rabbi Cohen, this sort of unfounded nonsense against atheists – in addition to criticizing the billboards without having even seen them – is why you fail.
