Public education stifles creativity in children

| »

Here is a 2006 TED talk by Sir Ken Robinson, who pretty much confirms everything I’ve ever thought or felt about school. It has its uses, but …

If anything, listen to the part starting from 15 mins in, where he tells the story of a little girl who became a dancer, led a stellar career, was at the head of some of the most brilliant productions in history and has become as famous as she is wealthy – a girl who so very easily could simply have been put on medication and told to calm down. If that isn’t a perfect illustration of what’s wrong with the system, I dunno what is.
