Over at the LA Times, Thomas H. Maugh II comments on the silliness and downright idiocy of those who refuse H1N1 (aka Swine Flu) vaccines, and in the process, gives us this sadly amusing little quote:
Media commentators Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh have apparently fallen prey to the loony websites of the anti-vaccine folks and have begun campaigning against the swine flu vaccine program, according to the liberal group Media Matters for America.
He notes how Beck said that he would do “the exact opposite” of what the “incompetent” government suggested doing, and how Limbaugh, in addition to calling Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius “some government idiot”, told his listeners not to believe anything the government says, which he claims will make them “healthier”. And to “trust [him]”.
The problem, Mr. Maugh, is not that these two in particular have been sucked in by anti-vax websites’ lunacy. They’re the ones who propagate such dangerous stupidity to begin with, and are every bit as culpable for brainwashing people into not getting necessary flu shots as the slithery con-men posing as health experts. In fact, with them having such large (and horrendously gullible) audiences, Beck and Limbaugh (and the likes) may just be the worst of them all.
