Michigan Repubs want to force kids to recite Pledge of Allegiance

U.S. Pledge of Allegiance
… except those who wish not to participate, in which case, too damn bad, Commie

Michigan Republican Senators seem to have a thing for screwing around with schoolchildren lately. After first giving bullies free reign to persecute victims all they want if they can come up with a “moral conviction” for doing so, they’re now planning to further abolish the notion that they have any interest in preserving civil or religious liberties (for anyone other than Christians, that is):

A group of Republican state senators have proposed a bill that would make the Pledge of Allegiance mandatory for every public school student in Michigan.

Republican state Sen. Roger Kahn’s SB 637 would also require schools to purchase a flag for every classroom.

Because what better a way to reaffirm Americans’ faith in their country than by forcing children to sacrifice precious classroom time to blindly recite a chant they don’t understand (and often can’t even pronounce) in a creepy and sectarian routine to get them all to comply unquestioningly to authority?

After all, just watch how enthused with national pride these little patriots are:

Don’t you just love the sound of borderline fascism in the morning?
