Newt Gingrich |
I knew there was a reason I got out of bed this morning. In the most entertaining blow yet to whatever can possibly remain of Newt Gingrich’s political credibility, the entirety of his senior presidential campaign staff has suddenly deserted him en masse, citing “differences over the direction of the campaign”:
Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich's campaign manager, senior strategists and key aides in early delegate-selection states all resigned on Thursday, a mass exodus that leaves his hopes of winning the Republican nomination in tatters.
In response, Gingrich posted a message to his followers on Facebook: "I am committed to running the substantive, solutions-oriented campaign I set out to run earlier this spring. The campaign begins anew Sunday in Los Angeles."
It looks like the universe has finally attained balance, for Gingrich’s chances of winning now perfectly match the level of “substance” he and his campaign have ever held.
How very schadenfreudelicious.
