DC appeals court overturns stem cell research funding ban

Stem cell research

Last August, I wrote about how a Christian group had gotten a judge to block a planned expansion of federal funding for stem cell research (using the usual bunk arguments, of course). I now come bearing good news on the matter:

A federal appeals court said the federal government can continue to fund research involving human embryonic stem cells, a victory for the Obama administration in an area of medical and ethical debate.

The 2-1 ruling overturned a trial judge's injunction in August 2010 that barred funding for the research.

The kicker: All three judges were Republican-appointed. Oops.
