Problem with Québec being so liberal is that it’s also a hotspot for New Age/“natural remedies” quackery. And Mom just bought me a Pur Noisetier hazelwood necklace to combat my chronic canker sores (along with heartburn, gastric reflux, teething, arthritis, osteoarthritis, constipation, migraines and cavities!) by purportedly sucking excess acidity right out of your body. And now, she throws a little tantrum because I refuse to wear a bloody stupid wooden necklace that is A) medical bullshit, and B) ugly. But, of course, it’s all my fault, somehow, I’m sure.

  • Virginia social services board votes 7-2 against gay adoptions following state AG Ken Cuccinelli’s (R) condemnatory “advisement”.

  • When Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly and even crazypants Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) declare that Birtherism is ridiculous, it may be time to move on.

  • Dharun Ravi [pictured], Rutgers U. student who pushed roommate Tyler Clementi to suicide after secretly filming him having sex with a guy, now indicted for “bias intimidation” (ie. committing a “hate crime”) and trying to destroy evidence. I still don’t agree with “hate crimes”, but good enough for now.

  • Jonah Goldberg: Every now and then, a jockish bully needs to grab some small scrawny little kid and beat him to within an inch from death, just to show everyone he means business.

  • Auckland, NZ’s St Matthew-in-the-City church actually looks like fun. Which explains why American fundagelicals are quick to condemn it.
