New South Dakota bill could legalize anti-abortion murders

Abortion: My Mind, My Body, My Choice
Abortion

Not content with proposing increasingly oppressive and demeaning anti-abortion legislation that treats women like slutty vermin for having the gall to want to have control over their own bodies, anti-abortion legislators have now reached what seems to be, for the moment, the lowest point possible in a new attempt to justify the absolutely unjustifiable:

A committee of the South Dakota legislature has turned out an amendment that could essentially make the murder of abortion providers defensible under the state's "justifiable homicide" law. If passed, the law would be changed to add the underlined clause:

Homicide is justifiable if committed by any person in the lawful defense of such person, or of his or her husband, wife, parent, child, master, mistress, or servant, or the unborn child of any such enumerated person, if there is reasonable ground to apprehend a design to commit a felony, or to do some great personal injury, and imminent danger of such design being accomplished.

In other words, just about anyone who knows a woman undergoing an abortion could just walk up to any abortion doctor tending to her and shoot them dead on the spot for trying to help her terminate her pregnancy, at any point in time.

In effect, bill sponsor Rep. Phil Jensen and his supporters want people to assassinate abortion providers at will – and get away with it.

Remember the rule of thumb: Never think Republicans cannot sink any lower. They always can … and will.
