Expect this blogging drought to continue for a while longer as I start over on that drawing in an attempt to fix all the issues that are bugging me about it.

  • In case you somehow missed it: Rep. Gabrielle Giffords [pictured] (D-AZ) was shot in the head (but thankfully survived) and six others were killed, including a federal judge and a 9-year-old girl, at a shooting spree at a rally in Tucson, Arizona. Giffords’ prognosis seems to be good for the moment. But, hey, people are just “reload[ing]!” and taking up their “Second Amendment remedies”, so that’s all fair, right?

  • President Obama vows to fight efforts to keep Guantanamo bay open – while signing a bill to keep Guantanamo Bay open.

  • A look at the homophobic (and generally bigoted) record of Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC).

  • US Justice Department now subpoenaing various Twitter users (including a member of the Icelandic Parliament) for their private info and relations to WikiLeaks. Still no word on how they can distinguish between WL and all the investigative journalists who do or did the exact same thing.
