As if we needed more evidence showing how the movement of opposition to the proposed Islamic cultural center that’s to be built a few blocks away from where the Twin Towers once stood is based on little more than sheer bigotry and demagogic fear-mongering, we now have this utterly horrendous ad from the National Republican Trust (which is apparently unaffiliated with the actual GOP, though it goes without saying that their interests are usually aligned):
As usual, here’s a courtesy transcript by yours truly:
On September 11th, they declared war against us. And to celebrate that murder of 3,000 Americans, they want to build a monstrous, 13-storey mosque at Ground Zero. This ground is sacred. Where we weep, they rejoice. That mosque is a monument to their victory, and an invitation for war. A mosque at Ground Zero must not stand. The political class says nothing; the politicians are doing nothing to stop it. But we Americans will be heard. Join the fight to kill the Ground Zero Mosque.
Several TV channels such as NBC and CBS are refusing to air it, as they should. This is no more than sheer hate-mongering against all those dirty rotten Mooslems – ’cuz they’re all terrorizers, don’t ya know, and allowing them to build a cultural center – oh, wait, a mosque – a few blocks north of Ground Zero – oh, wait, make that at Ground Zero – will be a chant of victory!
Could these shameless bigots be any more obvious?
