Go ahead, Timmy, turn your other cheek … |
This statement by Pope Ratzi may sound a little ambiguous at first glance, but putting it in the context of the ongoing (and worsening) clerical child abuse scandal, it then becomes perfectly clear what he means:
VATICAN CITY - Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday made an oblique reference to the paedophile priest scandals rocking the Catholic Church as he recalled Jesus preaching to turn the other cheek.
"When he was reviled he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he trusted to him who judges justly," the 82-year-old pontiff said at a Holy Thursday mass in the run-up to Easter on Sunday.
There’s a cry for “please don’t punish us for our evil deeds!” if I ever heard one. Sorry, Ratzi, but you’ve been a very bad boy, along with all your filthy friends who thought it was okay to rape the defenseless children in their care. Punishment you deserve, and with any luck, punishment you shall receive. And lots of it.
