Yeah, we’re all shocked he didn’t fulfil this campaign promise, either

| »

Anyone who is honestly surprised at this is either a naive fool, or has been living under a rock for the past year: Obama has officially declared that Guantanamo Bay will not be closed by the original January 2010 deadline, and actually has no idea when it’ll be shut down, either.

BEIJING -- President Obama directly acknowledged for the first time Wednesday that the prison facility at Guantanamo Bay will not close by the January deadline he set, but he said he hoped to still achieve that goal sometime next year.

Obama refused, however, to set a new deadline.

In an interview in the Chinese capital with Major Garrett of Fox News, Obama said he was "not disappointed" that the Guantanamo deadline had slipped, saying he "knew this was going to be hard."

Granted, it may be a bit difficult to organize and get anything done with the constant dishonest bullshit flooding in from the side of the Republicans with regards to Gitmo and how shutting it down would pose problems for everyone (it wouldn’t) … but …

Hey, hang on a second. Aren’t the Democrats supposed to form a supermajority right now? Which means that they could pass whatever legislation they wanted without the Republicans being able to do a damn thing about it, should they choose to?

The failure of bipartisanship strikes again.
