Just a random thought my mother and I shared the other day, one I find quite interesting for some reason: what if you had unlimited wealth – but only for 24 hours? What would you buy, what would you do?
Here's how I break it down: assuming I could buy all these things online instantaneously without requiring any time-consuming traveling, I would ...
- Buy 20 Subway restaurants;
- Buy 10 McDonalds';
- Buy 30 Le Wok de Szechuan restaurants (absolutely delicious Chinese fine cuisine restaurant in Montréal);
- Buy a supermarket for any other foodstuffs not covered previously;
- Buy the Future Shop, RadioShack and Circuit City chains all for ME!!! (or the ones that still exist, that is) to live in;
- Buy a cruise ship or two (Golden Princess and Freedom of the Seas come to mind);
- Put aside $100 million in a private bank account (of which I would have many, mind you) devoted to paying for the design and construction of a personal mansion to call home (assuming I ever leave Future Shop, RadioShack or Circuit City);
- Put aside another $300 million in a separate bank account for maintenance and upkeep costs for said mansion;
- Get myself an Aston Martin DBS V12 (or a later model should one exist);
- Spend 12 hours (a number that could vary depending on low long it's taken me this far) randomly browsing online stores for anything that hits my fancy;
- Spend the first quarter of the remaining time setting up various trust funds, bank accounts and such for myself, and also giving a few hundred millions to my family, friends and loved ones (each);
- Spend the second quarter booking in advance all sorts of vacations, trips and voyages to places I've always wanted to go, doing things I've always wanted to do (whatever they may be);
- Spend the third quarter donating a full billion dollars to North American educational departments and schools, and another billion to the American healthcare department(s); and
- Finally, with my last bit of time remaining, I would donate several hundred million dollars to any charities I pick – namely for Africa, disadvantaged children (Africa and elsewhere), the poor throughout the world (remember, unlimited wealth), paying back countries' debts, and so forth. Because I'm a philanthropist at heart, see. (Or so I claim.)
You may be wondering why, with unlimited wealth, I wouldn't just arrange a plan so that every country on Earth receives a billion dollars every year for eternity or something. Well, gotta stay realistic, no?
(Heh heh heh ...)
So ... what about you? How would you act if you had unlimited wealth for a day?
