Christians once again demonstrating how their God is just a petty little tyrant

| »

Remember those Indiana Atheist Bus Ads (as seen to the right)? You know, the ones that were deemed "too controversial" before being let back up? Of course you do.

Well, in their ever-lasting quest to prove themselves as being totally and completely unoriginal, Christians have once again come up with a counter-ad that follows their copy-paste routine, seen below (I blew it up a bit, but no bigger original image available, sorry):

Over on (what I take it to be) the ad campaign's Facebook group, which seems to work as the ad's official campaign website (and which already has an alarming one thousand plus members), you can find this pleasant little description:

THIS IS A GROUP DESIGNED FOR CHRISTIANS TO STAND UP FOR CHRIST. IT IS TIME TO STAND UP! GOD LAID THIS ON MY HEART TO STAND UP AGAINST THE ATHEIST MESSAGE YOU CAN BE GOOD WITHOUT GOD. IT IS TRUE THAT YOU CAN BE GOOD WITHOUT GOD BUT YOU CANNOT BE SAVED WITHOUT JESUS. SO IN A LOVING WAY LETS SPREAD THE MESSAGE WITH THIS AD ALL OVER THE WORLD. THE ATHEIST GROUPS HAVE BOUGHT ADS TO GO ON THE BLOOMINGTON TRANSIT BUSSES. SO I HAVE PURCHASED ADS TO GO ON THE SAME BUSSES.

Sheesh, are these fundies completely unable to switch their Caps Lock key off? Not so good for their movement when potential "recruits" can't even tolerate their writings.

While of course I fully support (and would vehemently defend) their right to place these ads anywhere they like (other than over my bedroom window, perhaps), you gotta wonder if these fundies truly are as blind to what they believe – and particularly, to what they say and write – as they appear to be. Just look at this ad, for example: "You can be good without God, but you cannot be saved without Jesus". Which simply means that plenty of good people will be sent to eternal damnation and agony, only because they failed to believe in the right deity.

If God truly prioritizes having people accept him as their personal deity of choice over their happiness or wellbeing, then that simply confirms the already blindingly obvious notion that he's nothing more than a cruel, petty, unjust, egomaniacal and bloodthirsty tyrant. Seriously – that's exactly what the ad says. "Either accept God/Jesus, or go to Hell even if you're good". Somehow, I doubt this is the message fundies and evangelicals want to be sending out if they hope to attract new sheep ...

Though I suspect it would be difficult for them to send out a different one, considering this is exactly what their God is like, after all.
