A Representative is a government worker who is supposed to, say, represent the people he works for. Which means that when asked some questions, even ones he doesn't like, he needs to give some rather better-sounding answers than, "This is MY town hall and I'll do what I want so suck it!" (or some equivalent). This, apparently, is something Rep. Baron Hill (D-Indiana) has yet to learn:
[Student asks why they aren't being allowed to film the townhall meeting, perfectly politely]Well – this is my town hall, and I set the rules, and I've had these rules – [crowd speaks up angrily]
Now let me repeat that one more time. This is my town hall meeting, for you. [More angry outlash] And you're not gonna tell me how to run my congressional office!
What an arrogant ass. First of all, Hill, this isn't your town hall meeting, it's the people's. They paid for it, unos, and dos, you work for them. Which means, second of all, that when they ask some bloody questions, you're required to give some bloody answers that aren't just, "Sit down, shut up, this is MY town hall and MY rules!". Third, yes, they are gonna tell you how to run your congressional office, for you being a representative inherently means you act in the people's interests – ergo, you do what they want you to do, plain and simple. Either you accept that, or you find another job. Condescending jackass.
But you gotta love this, though:
Now, the reasons why I don't allow filming, is because usually the films that are done end up on YouTube in a compromising position.
Oh, you mean, like it just did? (Though admittedly, this looks bad less because of your views on healthcare, and more because you acted like a censoring egomaniacal dictator.)
