Bachmann must be so disappointed

| »

Gosh darn it – she tries to raise her kids like any good wingnut parents do: filled with preconceptions and prejudice and silly nonsense about conspiracies and government authoritarianism, and now, her son's gone off and decided to do some good by becoming a teacher for the very organization she publicly decried. She must have such a heavy heart.

Here's what she said about AmeriCorps and "reeducation camps" a while ago:

I believe that there is a very strong chance that we will see that young people will be put into mandatory service. And the real concerns is that there are provisions for what I would call re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward and then they have to go to work in some of these politically-correct forums. As a parent, I would have a very, very difficult time seeing my children do this. [Original emphasis]

Of course, as any other rational human being would, any child of mine who decided to join such an organization as AmeriCorps, which "offers Americans the opportunity to serve at local and national nonprofit organizations" (from this article), would only have their decision met with pride and honor.

But of course, Bachmann is not a rational human being, as she's demonstrated over and over again, and now she must truly be steaming to hear her son has indeed joined that organization to become a teacher:

You've probably guessed by now that Bachmann's son, Harrison Bachmann, recently joined Teach for America (TFA), one of the programs under the AmeriCorps umbrella.

There are several people with the same name about that age in the country, but Stroud on Tuesday confirmed that Bachmann's son has joined.

Harrison Bachmann declined an interview through TFA, and Stroud said that privacy prevented saying where he would teach this fall. Bachmann's office did not return calls.

So, who should you vouch for – Bachmann, who spends her political career spouting off false claim after retardedly false claim, or her son Harrison, who now will spend his time teaching disadvantaged children and showing them a new view of the world? Hmm ... such a tricky question, isn't it ...?
